Isle of Arran Distillers narrows losses
Isle of Arran Distillers, one of Scotland’s youngest whisky companies, failed to break into profit last year but halved its annual losses after securing a US distributor.
The drinks industry minnow said sales of branded products, including Arran Single Malt and the Lochranza blend, rose by 11% compared with 2004, with malt sales increasing by 28% to reach a new level of 72% of all brand sales.

Isle of Arran’s distillery produced some 100,000 litres during the year, and it plans to increase production by a further 25% this year.
In February this year, the company’s Lochranza Distillery on Arran began bottling its first 10-year-old malt, which the company said had received „encouraging levels“ of orders from the US and Canada, as well as a positive response from Europe.
The company said in its annual report: „We feel sure that this launch marks the beginning of a rapid growth phase for Arran in most major whisky markets. The directors are confident of the future prospects of the company.“
