Rare Single Cask Release at Glenturret
The Glenturret Distillery has made a rare release of three single casks, aged 14, 15 and 29-years-old.
Carefully selected from casks dated 1991, 1992 and 1977, the bottlings are limited editions. There are just 576 x 70cl bottles of the 14yo, ABV 59.7% (£65); 582 bottles of the 15yo 55.3% (£75); and 246 of the 29yo, 55.6% (£175).
The award-winning whisky is still made using the „pot still“ process, whereby the single malt is produced by traditional methods slowly, patiently and in small precious quantities with water from Turret Burn, giving a smooth and mellow finish.
The method dates back as far as 1775, although records show distilling took place on the site from as early as 1717, which make it the oldest in Scotland.
Neil Cameron, production manager, said: „Choosing a single cask is a great honour, especially from as good a single malt as The Glenturret. I am delighted with these three new expressions, each different in their own way.
„While the 29yo has the distinctive light and floral aromas of a classic Glenturret single malt, the younger expressions, having matured in first-fill sherry oak casks, bring a lovely amber colour with a rich, spicy bouquet.“
